Yesterday at school, we had a day when we had to remember the New Zealand and Australian soldiers that died at Gallipoli and WW1. We had to make Red Poppies and crosses with the fallen soldiers names on it. The cross that my friend had to plant was for Dave Gallaher.
I am a Year 8 student at Glen Innes School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 11 and my teacher is Mrs Ramkolowan.

Problem Solving with Mrs Bina
Today, my class had a visitor. Her name was Mrs Bina. She was here to help us with problem solving. Mrs Bina was one of the top maths facilitator. The problem she told us to do involved a cake in thirds and 2 people named Moena and Henri. I was in a group to solve the problem. In my group was Shanelle and Wesley. The problem we had to solve was fractions. Some of the problem was hard but some was easy to do. It was interesting because we got to learn new ways how to solve fractions with a math facilitator.

WW1 Letter to Parents
Dear Mum and Dad,
I wish I could be with you right now but I cant. I have made my choice to help the soldiers in World War 1. In the war, there are many things you can do to help. I have been placed in a trench by my Captain.
In the trench, it is very horrible. It is like living in a toilet! I have the worst job in the trenches. I have to clean the trench toilets. Very horrible.
In the trenches it is great because I can talk to my comrades and discuss what they will do after the war. In the trenches, I get quite hungry from time to time. The food I get is limited. I also don't get much sleep. We have shifts. Some soldiers sleep while the others watch the battlefield. Then when they had enough sleep, they change over.
We also got provided with cards and treats. I hope Marzia sends some chocolates down for me. That’d be great. Well, I hope I get to see you at the end of the month. When I come, be prepared.
Love your son, Samuel

Trench Model Explanation
This is a Model Trench made out of school made play dough with Etai and Munokoa. We made this trench because we were studying about WW1.
I had to make a plan first to decide how to make it. Then our teacher had to make play dough first so we can make it. The first made play dough were taken so I had to wait a few days. I had a group to work with. I was working with Etai and Munokoa. We had to make a trench with sandbags, a rat, food and a gun.
At first it was hard because the play dough kept falling out of the place so we had to fix it up. Some parts of making the trench were hard but it got more easy when we got closer to finishing it.
