Pt. England Powhiri

WALT:write a recount.

Yesterday, most of our school and other schools walked to Pt. England.  There was going to be a Powhiri.  We all had to go there to learn from academic people who arrived there.  There were people that came from Hawaii and arrived in a waka.

First, most of our school had to got ready for a walk down to Pt. England.  We had to arrive at 8:30 because we had to leave at 8:35.  Any students that arrive after 8:35 had to stay at school with the juniors.  Some of the students could come by a parent or by car as well because they were invited to watch the Powhiri.

Next, we arrived at Pt. England.  There were many schools that came to this Powhiri.  Some schools had students that used to come to our school.  There already was a waka at Pt. England but there was a second waka coming.  There were people and students on the beach.  Some of our school students were on the beach to sing.  They were Robin, Andrea and Jazire.

Finally, the waka came.  We sang and danced to E oho ra e.  We sang and danced to it until the people on the waka set foot on the beach.  Then we sang Nga waka.  After that we sang a song I think about the maori people.  One of the people on the beach said a prayer.  Then the people on the beach told all of the schools to line in the school and high five the people on the beach.

Many schools went to the powhiri.  There were about 2300 students at Pt. England.  It was really cool there because we saw many schools and learned things about learning.

Match the Fractions

This game is called Fraction Match.  In this game you have to know your fractions.  There are many different fractions to match in this game as I get to more higher levels.  This game is easy at the start but it gets harder at the higher levels.  The fractions I needed to learn were halves, whole fractions and your thirds.  I would like to play more games like this because it is fun and easy to learn from.

Fractions on a Number Line

This game is called Fraction Number Line.  In this game you have to put the fractions on the number line the correct way.  I found this game quite hard but there some fractions that were easy to put on the number line.  For example, I put the 1/2 in the middle of the number line because there are 2 equal lines and I put the 1 whole and the end because it means 1.  I would like to play more games like this because I need to learn more about fractions on a number line.

Studyladder

This site is called Studyladder.  This is a site that everyone knows about because most of the school homework and school work is put on Studyladder.  In this problem, I have to figure out the length of each piece of wire made from the square.  The answer to this one is 9 cm.  I figured this out because 4 x 9 = 36.  Each length of wire is 9 cm.  Studyladder is a fun site to play on.  I would like to play more games like this on this site.

This game is called Fruit Shoot.  In this game you have to shoot the correct fruit with a decimal that matches the fraction given above.  There are 4 different modes you can choose in this game.  The answer for this one is 0.7 because it matches 7/10.  To get the answer, you have to shoot the answer by clicking on it.  My highest score on this is 78.  This game is a fun learning game for people who need to learn their fractions and decimals.  I would like to play more games like this.

The Best Weekend

“YAAAAY” shouted the people.  The people were cheering for the Chiefs.  I was at Eden park when this happened.  I was there with my friends and my friend’s parents.  It was the Blues VS the Chiefs.

At Saturday the 11 of July 2014, my friend invited me over in the morning to his house.  He lived in 37 Wanganui ave near John street.  He came by train to my house.  It was great because he was 10 when he got his first HOP card.  We got to go to his house by train.  I had to stay at his house until 7:35.  The game was gonna be on until 9:00.  We all got dressed and ready for the game.  We were supporting the Blues because they are from Auckland.  We got signs and scarfs for the Blues.

It was 6:50 so we all got into my friends parents car and drove to Eden Park.  When we arrived at a nearby parking lot, we quickly put our scarfs on and ran to Eden Park.  It was a rainy day so it was very wet.  We ran so we could get food there in time for the game as well.  It was 7:10 when we arrived at Eden Park.  We had to find a spot to sit while we watch the game.  We found a spot but it was very wet.  So we kept looking for seats to sit.

We finally found a place to sit.  It was covered by the top and had a great view of the game.  We picked that spot because the rain could not come on top of us.  At 7:35 the game started.  We bought some food when the game started.  We quickly went to our spot and sat and watched the game.  There were people cheering for the Chiefs but we cheered for the Blues.  Then the game finished.  It was 8-11.  The Chiefs won by 3 points.  It was sad because the Blues almost won.  It was a good game though.  Then we left Eden park and went home.

That is my best holiday because it was the first time I watched a live rugby game and first time I went to Eden park.  I would like to go to Eden park again and watch another game of Blues VS Chiefs.
